A Story About San Diego is a novel about San Diego, about being 20-something in our city, with no hopes, no prospects and nowhere to fall back to but the couch you're crashing on.
Maybe you get a break, find a job in the service industry, but then all that time you're accustomed to luxuriating in? It vanishes, and your life starts pouring down your pant leg. Maybe you find a girl, maybe you lose your girl, maybe you lose your job, maybe you come within a kind friend or two of living on the street.
Or maybe you find a job in corporate America, out in the cubicle farms. You get in line, start climbing the ladder, get a good whiff of the guy above you's delicates. Maybe you lust after San Francisco, and Paris, and Hawaii, all these magical somewhere-elses. And finally, after years of painful failures, maybe you find contentment, a kindred soul, a home. In the end you might even learn the ultimate lesson - how to be happy no matter what.

On Jon
- San Diego since '99.
- Hated our city at first - only saw the surface, the veneer. Navytown, tourist turnstyle, Des Moines with a beach, so conservative...
- Fell in love slowly, like that shy girl you've known forever who shows you her soul peek by peek until you see her glowing core.
- Influences as diverse as Rabelais, Stephen Jay Gould, Gary Snyder, Denis Johnson, Erica Jong, D.H. Lawrence, William Gibson.
- Inspired by Under The Perfect Sun and The Taco Shop poets.
- Walt is the greatest American and Henry Miller is food.
- Blog, tweets, pics, vino.
- Am geek. Love building businesses, working with entrepreneurial-types, being a good neighbor.
- "Ping me let's get a drink and talk it over" - that means you.
